…and this is Loobylu, the new landing place for my online life.
I am a freelance illustrator, designer, writer, and endless maker of things (including textile things, ceramic things, miniature things, film things and book things). I have always loved to share what I make and the things that inspire me. Sharing this sense of adventure and curiosity seems to inspire others too, and this is the best feeling in the world.
Once or twice a month, (beginning again in the fall) Loobylu subscribers will receive my list of links to things I think will spark your imagination. My newsletter has always been about the little things that make life good. It’s an eclectic mix of art, illustration, books, food, film and tv, music, and the funny things that make me laugh.
Also included will be… some news from my life and studio, some illustrations, recipes, works-in-progress, special offers, craft projects, guest posts, and comics.
I have always liked to accompany my ramblings with illustrations… which began in journals, way back in 1979.

Loobylu was an OG blog which I launched in 1999, way back before they were even called blogs. The Guardian described Loobylu as a “trusted favourite” and wrote that my illustrations brought a magical touch to the customary blogging style. WIRED magazine once named me a “Power Blogger” (Ka-Bam!), and The Design Files called me “true blogging royalty” (Off with their heads!). Loobylu was live and active for 20 years but retired in 2019 just in time for a long dark winter.
